Okafor's rapid impact gives Leeds first win in six league games

Noah Okafor scored 97 seconds after coming on as Leeds beat Tottenham 1-0 at Elland Road, with Jayden Bogle avoiding a red card for a first-half challenge on Mathys Tel.

Noah Okafor needed barely a minute and a half to make his mark, firing Leeds to a 1-0 win over Tottenham at Elland Road that ended the Whites' six-game wait for a Premier League victory.

The substitute struck in the 79th minute, just 97 seconds after replacing a teammate, according to Yahoo Sports. A throw-in was flicked on by Dominic Calvert-Lewin and nudged into Okafor's path by Harry Wilson, allowing the forward to drive home the only goal of the game.

The result lifted Leeds into eighth place, two points above Tottenham, and brought to an end Spurs' hopes of a fourth consecutive win after a run of six matches without one earlier in the campaign, Yahoo Sports reported.

Guardian Football described it as Leeds' first league win in six matches, noting that manager Daniel Farke had reverted to a 3-5-2 system reminiscent of the shape many credited with saving his job against Manchester City almost a year ago. Leeds had begun the season with eight points from their first four games before stuttering, making Saturday's victory a timely one for Farke even if, per the Guardian, his position was not under anything like the same pressure this time.

The afternoon was shadowed by controversy from the 34th minute, when defender Jayden Bogle caught Tottenham forward Mathys Tel with a late challenge, his studs landing on the Frenchman's trailing ankle. Yahoo Sports described the tackle as not malicious but said it left Tel writhing in agony.

Tel attempted to play on but was forced off a short time later. A lengthy VAR review examined whether Bogle should have been shown a red card, but the officials concluded no further action was necessary, allowing the Leeds defender to stay on the pitch for the remainder of the match.

Sky Sports Football framed the result as a deserved home win overshadowed by that controversial refereeing decision, with Bogle's escape from dismissal a central talking point alongside Okafor's late intervention.

For Tottenham, the defeat halts any immediate momentum towards a winning run and leaves them below Leeds in the table on the day. For Leeds, the win offers Farke's side a platform to build on after a difficult recent spell, with the switch to three at the back having delivered an instant return against one of the division's in-form sides.
