Williams injury overshadows Forest's point at Ipswich

Neco Williams scored but limped off with an arm injury as Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 at Ipswich Town, a result that ended three straight league defeats but extended their winless run.

Nottingham Forest moved out of the Premier League relegation zone on goal difference after drawing 1-1 at Ipswich Town, though the night was overshadowed by a worrying injury to Neco Williams.

The Wales international put Forest ahead at Portman Road but was forced off late in the game after falling awkwardly and hurting his arm, leaving the pitch with it wrapped in his shirt, according to Sky Sports Football's highlights coverage of the match.

Head coach Oliver Glasner said afterwards that the injury appeared serious. "Neco's in huge pain," he said. "He fell on his elbow. We have to do further assessments but it doesn't look really good."

Williams later struck a more upbeat tone on social media. "A game of mixed emotions. Points on board to build on now. Ps I'm all good," he wrote, as reported by Yahoo Sports.

Forest were already missing Nicolas Dominguez for the draw, with the midfielder sidelined by what Glasner described as a minor muscle problem. "Unfortunately he has a minor muscle injury. He could be back next week," the head coach said.

Glasner added that he expects Dominguez to be fit soon. "We are confident that he will be available against Brentford or at the latest against Manchester City," he said, giving Forest a likely timeframe for his return across their next two league fixtures.

The draw itself brought an end to a run of three consecutive league defeats for Forest, offering some relief after a difficult spell of results. BBC Football's coverage of the match noted that Forest nonetheless endured another evening of missed opportunities at Portman Road, continuing their winless run in the league even as the point moved them above the relegation places on goal difference.

With both Williams' fitness and Dominguez's return now subject to further assessment, Glasner's side face a period of squad management as they prepare for fixtures against Brentford and Manchester City, the two matches the head coach pointed to as target dates for Dominguez's comeback.

For Ipswich, the point extends their own involvement in a tightly contested lower half of the table, with the draw doing little to separate two sides still searching for consistency in front of goal this season.

Forest's immediate focus now shifts to assessing the extent of Williams' elbow injury, with the club yet to confirm further details beyond Glasner's post-match assessment and the player's own reassurance that he is "all good".
